Prerequisite: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and/or instructor's consent.
Description
Focuses on current nonpsychotic mood and anxiety disorders through review of a range of theoretical and treatment perspectives that form the basis for current standards of intervention. Content includes screening and treatment for depression/anxiety disorders in primary care, development of collaborative models of practice for advanced practice psychiatric/mental health nurses, theories and methods in crisis intervention, and suicidal assessment and interventions. Appropriate assessment and treatment and understanding importance of evaluation of clinical practice emphasized.
