Description
An instrumentation course to teach the theoretical and practical concepts of flow cytometry and cell sorting. Basic principles of flow cytometry are presented covering lasers, light scatter, fluorescence, optics, fluidics, signal processing and data acquisition and analysis. Following the basic principles, specialized areas of discussion will be covered to include immunofluorescence, DNA/cell cycle, functional studies, cell sorting, reporter markers/molecular biology and data analysis. Each discussion area will focus on relevant factors influencing sample selection and preparation, reagents, instrument configuration, controls and optimizing data acquisition for that application.
