Description
The first semester of a two-semester sequence which forms the core of the LEAP experience. It focuses on how concepts of community have developed and been implemented in the American experience, on how these communities have been formed and have functioned, and on who has been included in and excluded from our communities. We do this by examining texts by American authors which offer a variety of historical, racial, ethnic, class, and gender perspectives on the issue. The class also emphasizes the acquisition of library resesarch skills.
