Description
Youtheatre's pre-teen program offers classes aimed at building character on and off the stage. All students participate in a foundation Creative Drama class and are members of a performance company that rehearses a 30-40 minute production which is presented for friends and family at the end of the session. In addition, students choose two specialty elective classes that focus on performance skills such as musical theatre, dance, magic and clowning, or puppetry. Students are invited to share skills learned in these elective classes with family, friends, and other students in an 'Open Sharing Day' to be held in the Babcock Theatre. Orientation Prerequisite for Pre-Teen Program: New students and a custodial parent are required to attend an orientation and sign a behavior contract. Class Sign-up: Students must sign up for company and electives prior to the first day of classes. Forms will be mailed after students have registered for the pre-teen program through Youth Education. Classes fill quickly on a first-come first-served basis. Sign-up forms must be mailed, faxed, or hand-delivered to the Youth Education office when complete. New students may bring their forms to orientation. Youth Education's Extended Care Program has been designed to assist working parents after Theatre School has concluded each day.
