YEART 213 - Mix and Match: Focus on Color

Artists select combinations of colors to create special effects. How we see each color depends on the light that surrounds it and the colors next to it. Artists can spend entire careers devoted to understanding and exploring colors. Color is a powerful element of art. No other design element is also a science and has a history like color. During this course, students will explore the use of color in various arts at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts and learn how it is used in various cultures. By learning to mix colors on their own, students will create colorful works of art and display them at the end of the week in the UMFA classroom. Cosponsored with the Utah Museum of Fine Arts.
