Description
Join Hansen Planetarium educators on a journey through space and time as we explore the cosmos and learn about basic astronomy. Session I: Use the planetarium theater to learn about the sun, planets, moons, stars, galaxies, and the universe. Use telescopes to view the sun and learn about sunspots. Build a comet, create an eclipse, design an alien living in our solar system, and create your own artistic vision of the galaxy. Optional Moon and Mars observing party scheduled for Friday, July 27 at 9:00 pm at Liberty Park. Session II: Discover the wonders of science. Make your own magnets. Discover the wonders of light. Experiment with electricity (in a controlled environment of course!) and make rocket fuel. Build and launch several different kinds of rockets. We will launch our rockets at Liberty Park on the last day of class.
