A course in business and professional ethics seeks to bridge the gap between individual or personal moral behavior and the challenges afforded by organized business activity, such as purchasing and supply management, in the marketplace. This subject will extend knowledge across a range of issues pertinent to roles within the purchasing and supply environment. The subject is intended to provide the necessary knowledge and critical skills to be a responsible professional in the business community. Topics include supplier relationships, gifts and gratuities, principle/agent, and the balance and power of influence. Upon completion of this course, students will: have a working knowledge of ethical decision making systems and their application to the business environment; appreciate the range of ethical dilemmas which purchasing and supply professionals face on a daily basis; and have an understanding of the approaches to encourage ethical behavior within organizations.
