Description
Lindy Hop (jitterbug), is the authentic Afro-Euro-American swing dance. It is unabashedly joyful, with a solid, flowing style that closely reflects its music?from hot jazz in the late 20's to the early 40's big bands. This dance evolved along with swing music by black people in Harlem, and continues to incorporate a solid, earthy posture typical of African dance. Lindy Hop is social, with partners connecting smoothly while relating to the music in feeling, improvisation, and phrasing. And while there is a rhythmic 8-count "pulse" that you feel in your bones, there is no hopping in this dance. Couples and singles of all ages are welcome. Bug is the owner of the Utah Swing Dance Association and has won numerous national swing championships. Her background includes a stint with the Joffrey Ballet and national competitions as a member of the BYU Ballroom Team. Thomas Allen has won numerous national championships and placed fourth at the World Lindy Hop Championships in 2004.
