Description
Expand your fundamental artistic skills and techniques! Join other serious art students who have had previous experience and are ready for a new artistic challenge. Take sketching field trips, learn about the collection at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, and learn to assemble a portfolio. Incorporate traditional and contemporary techniques as well as innovative approaches as you create original art. Students will also be able to join us for a student exhibit at the museum. Co-sponsored with the Utah Museum of Fine Arts. Creative Sculpture: Join artists for an adventure in 3-D sculptural art. Together we will look at sculpture at the museum and discuss what makes it interesting, exciting, or valuable. Investigating the history of sculpture. Learn about different media such as plaster, wood, wire, and paint to create remarkable, individual expressions. Painting and Drawing: Create memorable masterpieces while discovering the fundamentals of design and color. Utilize and practice a variety of basic painting techniques to stimulate your imagination. Use media such as acrylic, watercolor, and oil pastels. Learn to paint objects traditionally found in Asian and European artwork. Travel into the unknown and paint pure designs or perhaps the subjects of your daydreams. African Masks: Learn about the collection of African masks at the museum. Learn about the history, use, and creation of masks. It's a scary, magical, and innovative process, and anything is possible in this shadowy world. Join in the fun of making art that you can wear or hang on the wall. Create your own festive masks using paper mach�, plaster, wood, found objects, cut paper, and paint.
