Description
This course is a reading methods course that covers students from grades 4 through 8. Emphasis is placed on the practical applications of theory and research on reading, with a special emphasis on comprehension instruction. The course shows how reading, listening, speaking and writing are connected conceptually and how they can be taught. Emphasis is also placed on narrative and expository texts and how to help students learn to read these texts in the content areas.
