Description
Designed to give the student a brief but in-depth experience in clinical evaluation and treatment of disability. Student will work closely with senior medical staff in the management of both inpatients and outpatients in the rehabilitation center. Student will also be exposed to the use of electrodiagnosis, physical modalities, writing prescriptions for therapy, wheelchairs, and bracing, and will learn about the skills and contributions of the various allied health team members, as well as working closely with patients' families. Diagnosis most commonly encountered will be craniocerebral trauma, cerebrovascular accidents, and spinal cord injuries, but many other patients with disabling neuromusculoskeletal diseases will also be encountered.
