ART 3350 - Fundamentals of Bookbinding

The course explores the basic elements of bookbinding, including design and construction of the traditional book as well as materials and their properties. Students construct and take away a variety of bookbinding models. A brief introduction to the history of the book, using examples from the rare book collection and focusing on historical and contempory book binding is part of the course.
