Description
Meets with ECS 6637. This course focuses on the social, cultural, economic and political consequences of English teaching. Examining issues of power and inequity among different languages and speakers of those languages. The goal is to understand the rights of language minority students in the U.S., the role of pedagogical choices in fostering or inhibiting language learning and ideological influences on language policy and decisions. Students enrolled in 6637 will be expected to meet a higher standard of performance and may be assigned additional work.
