Description
Do you wish you could snowshoe in beautiful mountain scenery until you're tired, then sit by a warm fire in a cozy yurt and eat great food with a group of like-minded folks? You can on this overnight trip! Our rustic yurt destination is only one mile from the road. We will meet at the trailhead on Saturday morning and snowshoe into the yurt as a group. Once we arrive at our home base you can leave your pack and explore the surrounding area unencumbered. When you've had your fill, return to the comfort of the yurt and a night of fun and friendly companionship. After a hearty breakfast the following morning you can head out and do it all again before strapping on your pack for the trek out. You will be back at the trailhead around 1 PM on Sunday. Hike leader Tom Cammermeyer will share his knowledge of wildlife, area history, vegetation, and animal tracking, as well as provide information on avalanche awareness and other safety issues. This rustic yurt is equipped with single bunk beds, a wood stove, and an outhouse, so please be prepared to (comfortably) rough it. Your special fee covers yurt fees, breakfast, and dinner. Lunch, snacks, gear, and transportation to the trailhead are on your own. Group food will be divided among all participants for carrying purposes on the trek in. Feel free to bring wine or the beverage of your choice to share. Tom is a native Norwegian with an MS in outdoor recreation from the U and the Norwegian University of Physical Education and Sports. He supports the Norwegian philosophy of 'Life in Nature.' Meeting place and other information will be mailed to participants.
