Description
Opportunities are provided to explore a variety of leadership and management behaviors, theories, and techniques for health care practitioners. The focus of this course is to prepare the nursing student for professional nursing leadership and management practice in a variety of health care organizations and various levels of care settings. Students will also be provided with opportunities to examine their individual strengths and weaknesses in preparation for assuming management and leadership roles. The concepts of evidence based practice will be incorporated within the context of nursing management and leadership roles. This is a service learning course (for generic BS students only) and as such, service will be used as a supplementary means of examining principles of leadership in nursing while providing essential service to our communities.
