Prerequisite: SP ED 5520 and 5960.
Description
Meets with SP ED 6531. Methods for developing speech and auditory skills in students with hearing impairments birth through five years will be emphasized. Students will examine suprasegmental development, articulation, acoustic properties, feedback and stages of acquisition. Investigation will also include assessment, interdisciplinary collaboration, IFSP and IEP development, techniques in speech training, auditory training and critical family involvement. Instructional strategies for speech and auditory skills training will be integrated into home and educational setting. Field hours required.
