Description
Creative surface decoration can elevate plain tile to an art form. Imagine a multi-tile arrangement as a wall hanging or table top, or an individual tile that represents your interpretation of the earth's beauty. In this introductory class, you will learn to select a design (create your own, or choose from a pattern), size and reproduce the design on tile, and glaze the tile to reflect your own unique vision. You'll learn the basic techniques by working on practice tiles, then, when you are ready, you will work with additional tiles that can be displayed together or individually. Class includes a brief demonstration on the use of decorative tile in homes, schools, and public places. Special fee covers tiles, glazes, brush, and firings. Lark has a BS in art education and a PhD in philosophy. She has been working with decorative tile since 1977. Her tile murals grace cities throughout the US and Europe; see them in Salt Lake at the U of U's Children's Center, in the medical complex, and at Liberty Park. This class is limited to 10.
