In each chapter, we will deal with an issue in contemporary American life and respond to it in a written composition. This will involve doing background reading about the issue, listening to radio commentary on the issue, reading an essay expressing a contrary point of view, and looking at a real case study involving the issue. Group and individual exercises will help you clarify your own point of view, acquire new vocabulary, and practice grammatical structures in preparation for writing your own expository essay.
