Prerequisite: Genetic counseling students only.
Description
This course is a hybrid of on-line interactions, didactic classroom time and community experiences that will expose genetic counseling students to the activities of patients and families outside the genetic consultation setting. A variety of opportunities, such as meeting with families, co-facilitating bereavement support groups, and attending support group meetings, will give the students a chance to learn and reflect about the lives of families with genetic conditions. In addition, public health and policy issues that impact geneticists and our families will be explored.
