Prerequisite: NURS 6006, 6365, (Psychiatric resident status).
Description
This is an interdisciplinary course that takes place over two semesters. (2 credits the first semester 1 credit the second). Graduate psychiatric APRNs will participate with Psychiatry residents in a didactic course for 13 weeks fall semester. Lectures will focus on psychopharmacological treatment of mental disorders. Nursing seminar time will be included in addition to every lecture to discuss application of content, appropriate medication choices and management strategies. Nursing law and scope of practice will also be covered.
