Description
Discussion about women's issues in the Middle East & North Africa have become a mainstay of U.S. media and news. Uncovering the reality behind the stories about women in this region is crucial for obtaining a better understanding about women's lives. In this 2-credit course, we will investigate the ways in which various social, economic, and political factors have influenced gender identity in the Middle East & North Africa, the relationship between men and women, and conversely, how women have constructed, refashioned and articulated their roles and place in societies across this area of the world.
