Description
Welcome to the world of opera, where literature, music, and art meet in a multi-disciplinary evening for all your senses. In this class we will embark on a journey through the passions and culture of 19th-century Italy, developing the background to savor Verdi's Falstaff as you never have before. In addition to classroom time, we'll go behind-the-scenes at the Capitol Theater and then view this hilarious comedy as a class, exploring the synergy between two unsurpassed theater giants: Shakespeare for the story line, and Verdi for the music. In the final class, we will discuss what we have seen. We will be attending the final dress rehearsal on Thursday, May 12.
