Description
This course will utilize slab construction techniques to produce teapots and tea sets. A slide lecture will provide historical background and an overview of teapot making in contemporary ceramics. Demonstrations will introduce students to the unique technique of cut and folded slabs to produce interesting and functional pieces. The work produced by students will be glazed and high fired, resulting in beautiful, useful teapots and tea sets. This course is part of a series that will cover other hand-building techniques and firing options. Students may take courses in the series in any sequence they wish and may repeat courses to continue to develop proficiency with the techniques and evolve their personal style. Open studio time is available to those registered for this class. One bag of clay, glazes, and firing are included.
