Description
Time was that to get a job, you would show up at a company dressed in your best clothes, introduce yourself to the hiring professionals, and produce a resume neatly printed on bond paper. But the world of job hunting has changed dramatically since the introduction of the internet and social networks. Facebook is no longer a place just to see pictures of family and friends, it is also a tool to maneuver yourself into a new job position. Sites such as LinkedIn, PartnerUp, and MeetTheBoss are also important tools in positioning yourself for your next career move. This class will guide you in using social networking and the internet both for employment research and to secure your next career position. We will evaluate how resumes and cover letters are handled in electronic format, the etiquette of following up a submission, and how to save time in applying for jobs in the online world.
