Description
This clerkship will provide the student with experiences in the formulation, preparation and clinical application of various compounded sterile products such as chemotherapies, antimicrobials, IVIG, iron dextran, and total parenteral nutrition within either an inpatient or an outpatient setting. Students will learn principles and parameters of sterile compounding as defined by USP 797; compatibility and stability characteristics; calculations of osmolarity and osmolality, dextrose concentrations, BME, and kinetic parameters; depending on the site.
