LAWCE 500 - 001 Basic Mediation Training
This course does not qualify for U of U employee tuition reduction or emeritus discount benefits. This course provides at least 40 hours of basic mediation training in an online format. We will meet every Wednesday evening from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Zoom for 8 class meeting periods starting May 18th, 2022 and ending on July 8th, 2022. There will also be 2 or more hours of asynchronous material to complete prior to the class sessions each week, and a final capstone project and 30-minute meeting with an instructor to occur after July 8th. This course has been qualified by the Utah Court and meets the educational requirement to be listed as a mediator on the Utah Court Roster of Mediators (basic roster). In order to obtain credit to be listed on the Utah Court Mediation Roster, you need to attend ALL 8 zoom sessions in addition to completing other online material as assigned. There are other requirements beyond taking this course that must be completed before being a rostered mediator, including 20 practical hours, and completing an online ethical exam. More information about these requirements and how to satisfy them is provided in class.
