Description
Course Description: This course provides instruction and hands-on experience in the preparation of an NIH grant application. Concepts of grant writing are generalizable to all funding mechanisms and types of research (clinical, epidemiologic and basic science). Students prepare a research proposal for translational, clinical or population research. This course offers an opportunity to critically evaluate the adequacy and scientific merit of research, develop skills in writing career development or R grant proposals, and apply methods and principles learned in earlier and current courses. Characteristics of successful research grant applications will be presented including how to write individual components of the application (e.g., Abstract, Specific aims, Significance, Innovation, Approach), the review process, and how to develop a response resubmission.
