Description
This course introduces architectural professional practice through a holistic view of sustainability that considers ecological, economic and social equity dimensions of design practices. The fundamentals of architectural practice are covered in this course including leadership, ethics, firm planning and management, business development, financial planning, legal aspects of practice and risk management. Students are engaged in a series of professional practice scenarios and have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a variety of situations and begin to process of crafting an individual career plan. An overarching learning outcome is to simultaneously introduce students to concepts and principles in architectural professional practice, and to encourage critical thinking about practice as a design problem that reflects and creates social, economic and environmental structures of power.
