OSHER 980 - Utah Opera Preview: Rachel Portman and Nicholas Wright's "The Little Prince"

A young prince travels the universe and, determined to be reunited with his beloved Rose, explores his new surroundings looking for a way back to his tiny asteroid home planet. During his journey, he meets a number of colorful, and often puzzling, characters--each, in turn, sharing their mite of wisdom and helping (and sometimes hindering) the Little Prince's attempt to return to Asteroid B-612. Utah Opera's preview class will provide insights into the story and the music, as well as the production history of this opera based on Antoine de Saint-Exupery's classic novel. We will also present fascinating information about Utah Opera's production and its cast. Interested class members can linger after the hour-long class session to observe a rehearsal on site.
